Tell us about your business, when was it formed and what do you do?

Lester Controls is the UK’s largest independent lift and escalator control panel manufacturer, established over 40 years ago. We specialise in designing and supplying high-quality control systems for lifts and escalators, focusing on reliability, innovation, and industry-leading technology. Our solutions support both new installations and modernisations, helping to improve efficiency, safety and ease of maintenance across the industry.

Who are your customers? Which markets do you serve?

We primarily serve lift and escalator contractors, and collaborate with a diverse range of industry professionals. Our products are used across various sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, transport infrastructure and many others. Whether for new builds or refurbishment projects, our control systems enhance lift performance, safety and energy efficiency.

How many times have you been to LIFTEX?

Lester Controls has been a regular exhibitor at LIFTEX for many years. It’s a key event for us to connect with customers, showcase our latest innovations and discuss industry challenges.

What are the main issues that your customers deal with and how do you help them?

Our customers face challenges such as ensuring compliance with new & evolving regulations, enhancing energy efficiency, and improving system reliability. We address these by offering advanced lift and escalator control solutions, remote monitoring capabilities, and intuitive diagnostics to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

Are there any issues that specifiers, contractors / owners should be aware of in the next 12 months?

Yes, compliance with new safety standards, the push towards energy-efficient solutions, and the growing need for predictive maintenance are key topics. As the industry continues to embrace digitalization, incorporating smart monitoring and automation into lift and escalator systems will be crucial for long-term sustainability.

How can we, as an industry, help designers and building owners to become more energy efficient and meet Net Zero targets?

Investing in intelligent lift controllers, regenerative drive technology and efficient lighting solutions can significantly reduce energy consumption. Collaboration between manufacturers, specifiers, and building owners is key to integrating smart control systems that optimise energy use and support Net Zero goals.
