60 seconds with…Edward Moore, Managing Director, Alliance Platform Lifts

Tell us about your business, when was it formed and what do you do?
Formed in 2011, Alliance Platform Lifts is the UK’s leading supplier of beautiful, high-quality and dependable bespoke platform lifts. We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach, working closely with architects, property developers, and homeowners to bring their vision to life. With a focus on seamless integration, we deliver lift solutions that enhance the beauty and accessibility of any space.
Who are your customers? Which markets do you serve?
We provide an array of lifts that cater to every need and style. Whether you require a lift for a public building, a luxury home, or a commercial space, our products ensure superior accessibility that is perfectly in tune with the surrounding environment. Our range includes: Platform lifts, Cabin lifts, Home lifts, Goods lifts, Bespoke lifts, Glass lifts and External lifts so there is definitely something for everyone!
How many times have you been to LIFTEX?
After great success in 2022, we are looking forward to return to LIFTEX in 2025.
What are the main issues that your customers deal with and how do you help them?
I would say the biggest issues we come across when talking to clients are space and aesthetics. Quite often when dealing with projects in London such as heritage sites, space is limited. We have a wealth of knowledge in creating bespoke solutions to accommodate almost every situation not only from a space point of view but also in the appearance.
Are there any issues that specifiers, contractors / owners should be aware of in the next 12 months?
EN 81-42 is a forthcoming European standard outlining safety requirements for enclosed cabin lifts, including accessibility. The draft (prEN 81-42:2022) was published on August 1, 2022, with BSI opening it for public comments from June 23 to August 16, 2022. While not yet officially adopted, it is on the horizon and should be on the radar for suppliers and consumers.
How can we, as an industry, help designers and building owners to become more energy efficient and meet Net Zero targets?
Our industry has made great progress in energy efficiency and continues to drive improvements. A majority of our product range are single phase, low energy consumption lifts with the impact of our environment in mind. With strong supplier support, we remain committed to sustainability.
What will you be promoting / what can visitors expect to see on your stand?
We will be showcasing our flagship product: the Nova Suite Cabin Lift with automatic sliding doors. This cabin lift is incredibly versatile with a capacity of up to 1,500kg, a gearless traction option and a wide range of finishes which we look forward to demonstrating.
What advice would you give to anyone visiting the show? What should they look for and how can they get the most from their visit?
We would recommend setting goals for your visit to ensure you get the most out of your time whether you are visiting for one or two days. If you are interested in attending any of the seminar’s, schedule these into your plans, it can be easy to run over! Start from one end of the exhibition working your way to the other to ensure you don’t miss anything and bring plenty of business cards!
